9th Street Huntington Beach
13 – 14 June 2009

Costa Mesa, Ca — The hottest talent on tap? Yep. Cash money prizes? You know it. Paparazzi-status media coverage? That too. The 2009 Rip Curl GromSearch fueled by H20 Overdrive is locked for 9th Street, Huntington Beach this weekend, June 13-14, to showcase the West Coast’s 16/under talent.

With a pulsating chest high southwest swell aimed to grace 9th street with its presence, no doubt the groms will have the proper platform to get busy. While understandably competitors will be battling for the cash prizes, bottomless giveaways, and bragging rights, they will also be looking to qualify for the prestigious Rip Curl GromSearch National Final this November.

Winners of the National Final will be cashing in on an all-expenses paid trip to Bells Beach, Australia, where they will compete in the Rip Curl GromSearch International Final during the Rip Curl Pro WCT.

Last year’s event saw 180 contestants, including 97 Active Duty Personnel, battle it out for trophies, prizes and bragging rights in 16 divisions, including Open and Active Duty categories for shortboard and longboard surfing. There is also a coveted “Top Branch” award which was proudly claimed by the US Navy in 2008. Quiksilver Announces Signature Boardshort Series for Summer 2009 0

For Summer 2009, Quiksilver are pleased to present their Signature Series of board shorts designed by a few of their pro surfers.  9 time world champion Kelly Slater, has designed the Mo Massive exclusively for Quiksilver.

Universally recognised as one of the best surfers of our time, Kelly’s signature shorts are designed to improve performance, and with them worn by the man himself, these are a great purchase for any surfer this summer.

As one of the most successful French surfers Miky Picon was a natural choice to team up with Quiksilver to make his own pair of signature board shorts named after himself; ‘The Miky’ Another Quiksilver pro designing his own pair of the ‘Mo Massive’ is Jeremy Flores. Similar to Kelly’s signature design Flores has opted for bright colours, making his shorts stand out whilst on the waves.

Known as one of the most creative surfer’s on the tour, American born Dane Reynolds, has transferred this energy and coolness to his own signature short called ‘The Cool Out’.

Finally the last to put his own stamp on the Quiksilver board shorts is Mustafa who has called his ‘Tunnel Vision’.
