Del Mar, Ca — The Del Mar Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo (October 10th and 11th 2009) will host thousands of surfers, approximately 150 shapers; include live shaping; live laminating; historic exhibits; tons of swirls, pinlines, and airbrush; surfboard demos; seminars & panel discussions; surf movies; live music, a festival atmosphere and of course the “Tribute to the Masters Shape-off” honoring legend Dick Brewer.

Early Bird booth space registration for the Del Mar Fall 2009 Sacred Craft Expo is open. $600/10’X10′ booth space. After August 15th cost goes way up. Save hundreds of dollars by registering now. WYLAND EXHIBIT HALL: This facility is the second exposition hall on your right (Wyland Mural on the wall) as you enter the Del Mar Fairgrounds main entrance. FYI: As exhibitors you will be using the Solana Gate (back entrance).
YOUR BOOTH SPACE: Exhibitor space will include 8′ blue backing and 3′ white drapery side arms. The floor is covered in green Astroturf carpet. Exhibitors are responsible for furnishing booth space with board racks, seating, tables, marketing materials, etc. Any wood building material you bring in must be fire proofed (marine supply stores).

Carlsbad, Ca — Spy Optic, Inc., a leading action sports eyewear brand, announces the 7th Annual ‘Spy Boot Camp Contest’ offering contestants the opportunity to share the experience of a lifetime with Spy world-renowned action sports athletes in their environments.

“Boot Camp gives our Spy action sports enthusiasts’ unprecedented access to meet, befriend and participate in their favorite sports with Spy’s roster of world-class professional athletes. In addition to experiencing each sport with Spy’s top athletes, winners will attend X Games 15 in Los Angeles and receive red carpet treatment by attending the hottest after party with action sports athletes and celebrities. Fuel TV will be covering the event and the winners will have the chance to be on television. Each winner will receive generous gift packs from Spy and industry partners.

Retail contestant entries will be received until June 21st, 2009. Consumer entries will be accepted until June 30th, 2009 through participating retailers and online at spyoptic.com/contests by submissions in 50 words or less of why they should be chosen to attend the “Spy Boot Camp 7 Contest.” One Grand Prize consumer winner will be chosen based on the most original creative submission. In addition, 25 consumer runner-up winners will receive prize packs from Spy and industry partners.

Winners will be posted online on July 15th, 2009.

Celebrating 20 Years of Dano Surfboards Friday, June 12th, 6-10pm at Hurley 0

Dano Surfboards and Hurley will host the 2nd Not-So-Annual White Lotus Party this Friday from 6 to 10 pm at the Hurley HQ in Costa Mesa. The event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Dano Surfboards by honoring the artistic excellence of Dan “Dano” Forte, Master shaper behind Dano Surfboards. On display, surfboards like “The Nose Glider,” “The Hog,” “Old Pleasure,” “Los Creeper” and “the Double Ender” showcase Dano’s skilled workmanship as “Lord of the Retro Surfboard World.” Other artists include Meredith Ambruso, Josh Hoyer, Greg Landers, Jessie Miller, Steve Rogers, Bennet Schlesinger, Tom Vadakan and Tyler Warren along with musical performances by Dano and the Juke Joint Freak Show and the Cormans.
